Sven in secret Benfica meeting
Sven Goran Eriksson does not believe he will be Manchester City manager next season and has already begun hunting for a new post. The former England boss held a secret meeting with Benfica President Luis Filipe Viera and sporting director Rui Costa in a Manchester hotel tonight but it did not remain secret for long as Portuguese TV captured the 2 parties leaving seperately. The Benfica delegation had reportedly been in Manchester to open negotiations with Manchester United no.2 Carlos Queiroz but it appears they may switched their attention to Sven when they learned he may be available. The Swede enjoyed 2 succesful spells in Benfica in the 80’s and 90’s winning 3 league titles and taking the Lisbon side to the European and Uefa cup finals. The only stumbling block to a potential deal may be Eriksson’s substantial salary which could force him out of Benfica’s price range.
