Nicky Shorey has completed his £3.5m move from relegated Reading to Aston Villa after passing a medical and inking a 3 year deal with the mid table midlands side. Shorey who has picked up 2 England caps has also played 2 seasons in the top flight and will vie for a regular starting place with Wilfred Bouma who is currently injured. At 27 years old Shorey will hope he can play out the rest of his years in the Premier League and is delighted at being offered the chance to shine in the worlds top division:

“I’m delighted to be here. It’s all come out of the blue a bit but it’s a great challenge for me. This is a massive club and I’m really looking forward to it. There were other clubs interested but this is such a big club. Obviously I talked to the manager and he’s very positive and very ambitious. That’s what I am - especially after last season. I want to get back into the Premier League and show people what I can do.

Shorey will now link up with his former Reading teammate Steve Sidwell as Martion O’Neill’s extravagant spending spree continues.
