Redknapp threatens to sack young English drunks

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has slammed the drinking culture of English players and claims it just doesn’t exist in their foriegn counterparts. Redknapp who was speaking on Radio to Talksport threatened to sack the 4 youngsters who decided to drink through the entirety of their FA Cup winners parade:

“Without a doubt the whole cultures changed with the foreign players coming in. I had a situation the other week we went out on the sunday we won the cup we go out on a bus ride. There’s 3 or 4 lads who can’t put a beer down while they’re on the coach, they haven’t even played in the cup final. We got back for the reception the 4 of them are then standing at the bar about an hour later and the 4 of them stayed at the bar till they were told its about time they went home. They’re players at the club but they might not be for much longer. “

Redknapp refused to name and shame the young lions but did offer them a bleak warning that they must amend their drunken ways:

“What chance have they got? They’re 19, 20 years of age, want to be players and they’re the only ones getting on the booze. If they can’t look after themselves for 30, 40 grand a week you’ve got no chance.”

Perhaps times are finally changing or maybe Redknapp is just a beer snob, he doesn’t touch the stuff but he apparaently loves a nice bottle of wine a trait he shares with another cup winning manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
