New Manchester City away kit 08/09

Manchester City today revealed their new home and away strips for next season and the home kit is as we revealed it a few weeks ago but the away strip is a return to the classic City red and black striped change colours. The colours were originally brought into the club by then assistant manager Malcolm Allison in the 60’s, taking the inspiration from the AC Milan kit which Allison hoped might make City play like the Rossoneri.
Allison had already affected a similar change at Crystal Palace changing their strip to emulate Barcelona’s red and blue stripes and his tactic indeed coincided with a hugely successfull era for City in which they lifted the League title, FA cup, League Cup and European cup winners cup in the space of 3 seasons. City will hope the new away kit will have a similar effect on present day fortunes and will ironically kick off their season with a pre season friendly against none other than AC MIlan, lets hope they don’t argue over who gets to wear the stripes.

Proves most City fans have no idea about their teams past. No doubt thinking they didn’t exist until they were born.
