Manchester City win UEFA Cup place

Manchester City have been awarded a place in next seasons UEFA Cup through the fair play league. City did not win the league, Tottenham Hotspur did, but City managed to finish highest of the teams who had not already secured a place in Europe. The news will add yet more gloss to Sven Goran Eriksson’s CV but still may not save his job as Chairman Thaksin Shinanawatra seems intent on bringing in a new manager despite Eriksson’s undoubted success. The longer Sven stays in the job the more City fans will hope that they may enjoy their first season in Europe for 5 years with the swede at the helm.

  1. if man city get rid of sven now then the worlds gone crazy, look since keegan left they’ve achieved nothing and in one season with a reasonable amount of money spent they got a top ten finish and in the uefa cup. personally as a chairman for a club of that size i couldn;t have been happier with the job he has done. as a pompey fan it doesn’t really bother me what man city do but its the man city fans that will soon desert the club if the ownership keeps on doing this and eventually they will become nothing and lose all of thier top players.

  2. Your totally right lew,

At the start of the season the press totally underestimated the city fans desire for change and a recognised top level manager. While they were still harping on about how much sven was paid by england the City fans were welcoming him with open arms.

Now even the gutter press has admitted sven is a good manager but the only man in the world who can’t see it is Dr Thaksin, he must go to the same opticians as Arsene Wenger…
