Ghost of Setanta still haunts England fans

The forthcoming World Cup qualifier between England and the Ukraine is in danger of becoming the least watched England game in the nations history. The combination of a meaningless game, unglamourus opposition and the ridiculous idea of pay per view streaming the game on the internet for £14.99 has destroyed any interest in the game. Historians will be hard pressed to tell you the last time an England game was not watched in pubs the length and breadth of the country but saturday will see that happen for the first time in living memory.

The situation is another fallout from the collapse of Setanta who had previously bought the rights to the game, but  with England qualifying after hammering Croatia last month no broadcaster has been willing to cough up the hefty fees the Ukrainian FA had been looking to secure. Instead Kentaro the agency that originally sold the rights to Setanta will screen the game themselves on their own ukrainevengland.com website a decision that has yet again angered England fans. Setanta had incurred the wrath of the England faithful in the past for failing to agree terms with terrestrial broadcasters to show highlights of England internationals and it seems there ghost is still haunting the nation.
