Andrew Johnson has fianlly completed his complicated move to Fulham from Everton today. The intitial fee is believed to be between £9m and £10m which had proved a stumbling block between the 2 clubs after Johnson’s medical revealed the players knee is still damaged from an old injury. Fulham lobbied Everton to reduce the fee following the discovery of the injury and it now appears Everton have conceeded some of the initial fee in return for add on payments that could see the cost rise to £13.5m depending on appearances. The former England striker has agreed a 4 year deal with the cottagers to the relief of their boss Roy Hodgson:

“I have made no secret of my wish to add Andy Johnson to my squad at Fulham. I believe that he has all the qualities needed to assist us in next season’s campaign and I am more than delighted that we have secured his services for the long term.

There has been a lot of speculation regarding this transfer during the last week, very little of which has had any foundation. I am just happy to be able to focus on the positive news that Andy Johnson is now a Fulham player, one who we have great hopes for, and I am grateful to the chairman, the board of directors and the chief executive for working tirelessly to make this possible.”

Johnson will now have to prove that the knee injury has taken away his edge as he failed to make an impact at Everton scoring just 17 goals in 61 matches as well as battling his infamous reputation as a diver.
